Rose Cuento worked as a staff nurse in med/surg and dialysis, prior to taking her first position as a research coordinator in hypertension and diabetes in 2005.  She worked as a research nurse practitioner at the University of California-San Diego in HIV Neurobehavioral Research. In 2012, Mrs. Cuento started her career at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a research nurse practitioner in asthma research at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).  

Currently, Rose Cuento is the Team Lead of the Research Coordinator Office in the NINDS Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and has been with the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) since 2016, originally working as a research nurse practitioner with the Clinical Epilepsy Section. In 2017, she transitioned to the CTU and provided regulatory support for the Division of Neuroimmunology and Neurovirology. In 2018, she took on the role as Senior Protocol Navigator (PN) in the Research Staffing Support Office (RSSO) where she has guided her teams in writing protocols and the management of activities associated with protocols. As a Supervisory Research Coordinator, Mrs. Cuento harmonizes NINDS research coordinator practice and provides guidance to new and current research coordinators. She is responsible for on-boarding, training, and supervising research coordinators within the CTU.

 Mrs. Cuento graduated from the University of Maryland with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004 and obtained her master’s degree as an Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner in 2008.

 Mrs. Cuento is a member of the International Association of Clinical Research Nurses, Society of Clinical Research Associates, and Association of Clinical Research Professionals. She is a certified Clinical Research Coordinator.
