The Office of the Director (OD) determines Institute programs, plans, and policies and provides management, program analysis, and scientific program reporting services to the Institute, as well as scientific leadership, policy guidance, and overall operational and administrative coordination, including across the activities of the extramural and intramural divisions.

About Leadership

NINDS is led by Director Walter J. Koroshetz, M.D. and Acting Deputy Director, Amy Bany Adams, Ph.D.  Dr. Koroshetz previously joined the Institute in 2007 as Deputy Director and served as Acting Director from October 2014 through June 2015. Dr. Amy Bany Adams currently serves as the Acting Deputy Director for NINDS. In addition to this role, she also continues to serve as NINDS Deputy Director of Scientific Management and Operations.

Immediate Office

The Immediate Office of the Director provides executive guidance and decisions on all aspects of the Institute’s operations.
