Paul Scott, Ph.D.
Director of the Office of Science Policy and Planning
The NINDS Office of Science Policy and Planning (OSPP) leads program and policy analysis, strategic planning, program evaluation, and reporting activities to support priority-setting, evidence-based decisions, and engagement with the research community, Congress, and the public.
As the NINDS liaison to Congress, OSPP coordinates reporting and interactions with Congressional members and staff and advises NINDS leadership and staff on legislative and policy issues relevant to neuroscience research. OSPP also facilitates strategic planning for NINDS as a whole and for specific research areas, supports evaluations to assess and improve NINDS programs, and prepares analyses and reports on NINDS research and accomplishments for a variety of audiences. In addition, OSPP staff represent NINDS on trans-NIH and trans-agency working groups and committees and help to catalyze new research initiatives.
