Dr. Dana DiScenza serves as a Health Science Policy Analyst in the Office of Neuroscience Communications and Engagement (ONCE), Neuroscience Content and Strategy (NCS) Branch, at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). The mission of the NCS Branch in ONCE is to provide strategic planning and coordination of dissemination of NINDS neuroscience content, primarily for scientific audiences, to accelerate scientific progress. 

Dr. DiScenza helps manage and coordinate communication efforts for large-scale neuroscience research programs, including the Brain Research Through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN) Initiative, BRAIN Initiative Alliance, and NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research. She serves as the Executive Secretariat for the BRAIN-Blueprint Communications Community, which convenes communications colleagues from NIH BRAIN and Blueprint Institutes, Centers, and Offices, to promote news, events, and scientific advancements associated with these ground-breaking initiatives. Dr. DiScenza provides science writing and strategy support for NINDS’s digital presence, as well as communications planning for NINDS Divisions and Offices. 

Prior to joining ONCE, Dr. DiScenza earned her B.S. in Chemistry from Marist College (Poughkeepsie, NY) and her Master’s in Business Administration and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island (Kingston, RI). She worked as a project manager for the Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN) BrandLab in Washington, DC and as a laboratory manager in the Chemistry Department at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
