This initiative will support (1) observational research to understand the role of structural racism and discrimination (SRD) in causing and sustaining health disparities, and (2) intervention research that addresses SRD in order to improve minority health or reduce health disparities.

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants that the Helping End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) Initiative and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), intends to publish a funding opportunity announcement RFA-21-15 as well as to announce a pre-application webinar on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 3:00-4:00 pm EDT (12:00 -1:00pm PDT). This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. The FOA is expected to be published in March 2021 with an expected application due date in April 2021. This FOA will utilize the U19 Research Program Cooperative Agreements activity code. Details of the planned FOA and pre-application webinar are provided below.

A companion FOA will solicit applications for ACE Networks supported by the R01 activity code (see NOT-HD-21-006). An individual may serve as the Principal Investigator for an ACE Center or Network on only one application.

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit public comment on the use of Common Data Elements (CDEs) in NIH-funded research, particularly in the context of research on COVID-19.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is currently developing a Strategic Plan for the next five years. This new plan will help NINDS to fulfill its mission to seek fundamental knowledge about the brain and nervous system and to use that knowledge to reduce the burden of neurological disease. To create the strategic plan, taskforces of NINDS scientific and administrative staff from across the Institute assessed needs, opportunities, practices, and policies in the areas of neuroscience and neurology research, research training and workforce diversity, communication, and workforce culture. At several points during the planning process, NINDS sought input from our external stakeholder communities to inform our strategic goals and objectives: At the start of the effort, a Request for Information (RFI) gathered public input regarding our four broad strategic goals. NINDS held multiple discussions with its National Advisory Neurological Disorders and Stroke Council, and the NINDS Deputy Director, Dr. Nina Schor, presented the broad goals of the plan at various professional society meetings, as well as at the annual NINDS Nonprofit Forum to gather additional input. NINDS held a series of six discussion panels of external stakeholders offering their individual insights and opinions on basic research, therapy development, training, diversity, and career development, and communication strategies. NINDS is now seeking input from the biomedical community and the public on our draft strategic plan.

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit public input for NIH on investments for The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative in non-invasive human brain imaging technologies.
