Expiration Date: Tuesday, November 19, 2024 NOFO Number: NOT-HL-23-001 Release Date: Monday, December 20, 2021 Notice Type: Notice of Special Interest
The purpose of this Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) is to stimulate novel epidemiological research to address key knowledge gaps within and between subpopulations of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. These populations are frequently aggregated in research, potentially masking important social and health differences. Given clear heterogeneity in ancestry, culture, immigration patterns among Asian Americans, socioeconomic position, and acculturation into American life, a critical need exists for epidemiological research to enhance our understanding of the interplay of environmental exposures, lifestyle, behavioral, genomics, social, neighborhood, and biological factors that impact the health of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander subpopulations.
Expiration Date: Friday, January 1, 2027 NOFO Number: NOT-AR-22-015 Release Date: Monday, December 20, 2021 Notice Type: NOT
HEAL Initiative: Restoring Joint Health and Function to Reduce Pain Consortium (RE-JOIN) (UC2 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) - The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to solicit cooperative agreement applications to support interdisciplinary teams that will work together to form the Restoring Joint Health and Function to Reduce Pain Consortium (RE-JOIN). The goal of RE-JOIN will be to define the innervation of the different tissues, which collectively form the joints, by sensory neurons that mediate the sensation of pain. Knowledge about the types and distribution of neurites in joint tissues will facilitate the identification of key receptors and mediators that induce pain by activating specific sensory neurons. These mediators or their receptors will provide novel targets for reducing pain.
Expiration Date: Friday, January 1, 2027 NOFO Number: NOT-NS-22-040 Release Date: Monday, December 13, 2021 Notice Type: NOT
The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to solicit applications to develop, test, and implement, novel, multi-level, culturally appropriate interventions and/or adapt, test and evaluate efficacy and effectiveness of existing interventions in NIH designated populations that disproportionately experience negative health outcomes (HDP). Desired outcomes of these interventions include reduction of pain and pain-related symptoms and improvement in patient satisfaction, and overall health outcomes, including function and quality of life. Interventions that target HDPs with chronic pain in addition to at least one comorbid condition (OUD, mental health disorders and/or chronic health conditions) are of the highest priority.
Expiration Date: Friday, January 1, 2027 NOFO Number: NOT-NS-22-047 Release Date: Friday, December 10, 2021 Notice Type: NOT
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) supports Specialized Projects to develop current or emerging technologies to generate comprehensive atlases of brain connectivity, with an emphasis on human, non-human primate (NHP), and mouse. Projects validating approaches using other species are also permitted if well justified. Applications may address any aspects of the data collection, analysis, and dissemination pipelines, to enable faster and more cost-effective generation and interpretation of brain-wide wiring diagrams. Projects will offer distinct capabilities and competencies aimed at developing and optimizing current technologies or entirely new and potentially risky approaches. They will be integrated into the BRAIN CONNECTS Network, consisting of other Specialized Projects from this FOA, and Comprehensive Centers from its companion announcements, as a coordinated effort aimed at developing wiring diagrams that can span entire brains across multiple scales.
Expiration Date: Friday, January 1, 2027 NOFO Number: NOT-NS-22-048 Release Date: Wednesday, December 8, 2021 Notice Type: NOT
The purpose of this notice is to inform applicants of a correction to the due dates for PAR-22-028 "Ultra-Rare Gene-based Therapy (URGenT) Network Resource Access (X01, Clinical Trial Not Allowed)".
Expiration Date: Friday, January 1, 2027 NOFO Number: NOT-NS-22-045 Release Date: Thursday, December 2, 2021 Notice Type: NOT
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) supports Comprehensive Centers to develop and test technologies that can be scaled to brain-wide atlases of human and non-human primate circuit connectivity. Centers will establish data collection, analysis, and dissemination pipelines to demonstrate the feasibility of mapping region-to-region connectivity with a minimum resolution of individual cells and/or axon fibers. They will demonstrate the significance of the approach within the context of a chosen CNS sub-volume, by testing specific hypotheses relating circuit structure to function. They will also incorporate toolsets and infrastructure for integrating separately collected data from smaller volumes, as well as from other data collection modalities, and for enabling the neuroscience community to interact with and mine the data for new research questions. Centers will be integrated into the BRAIN CONNECTS Network, consisting of projects from this FOA and its companion announcements, as a coordinated effort aimed at developing wiring diagrams that can span entire brains across multiple scales.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) provides support to eligible, domestic institutions to develop and implement effective, approaches to biomedical research education and mentoring that will keep pace with the rapid evolution of the research enterprise. This NIH Neuroscience Doctoral Readiness Program (DR Program) expects that the proposed research education programs will incorporate extensive research experiences within the NINDS mission and well-designed courses for skills development and education to prepare recent baccalaureates from diverse backgrounds to transition into and complete rigorous, research-focused doctoral degree programs (e.g., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) in biomedical fields. This is a limited competition funding opportunity announcement to support postbaccalaureate programs that will be affiliated with a funded NIH T32 program. Eligibility is limited to PD(s)/PI(s) or MPI teams that include at least one PD/PI of a grant supported by the following FOAs: T32 - Jointly Sponsored Institutional Predoctoral Training Program (JSPTPN), PAR-20-076;NINDS T32 - Institutional Research Training Grant, PAR-21-149; or NINDS T32 - Institutional Translational Research Training Program, PAR-19-228. In all cases, a PD/PI of the T32 grant from a FOA cited above, must be the PD/PI or an MPI of this R25. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) does not allow appointed participants to lead an independent clinical trial but does allow them to obtain research experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor.
Expiration Date: Wednesday, January 8, 2025 NOFO Number: NOT-NS-22-017 Release Date: Friday, November 12, 2021 Notice Type: Notice of Special Interest
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications from small business concerns (SBCs) for projects to transfer technology out of the NIH intramural research labs into the private sector. If selected for SBIR funding, the SBC will be granted a royalty-free, non-exclusive patent license agreement for internal research use for the term of and within the field of use of the SBIR award to technologies held by NIH with the intent that the SBC will develop the invention into a commercial product to benefit the public.
