Dr. Jackson’s research is centered on understanding electrical signaling and neurotransmitter release in the nervous system. His team leverages electrical and optical techniques to study ion channels in nerve terminals using a range of experimental systems such as brain slices and cultured cells. This research program is focused on understanding the mechanisms of exocytosis to learn how the endocrine system controls complex physiological changes in the body, and how the nervous system encodes sensory inputs and processes information.
