NINDS K99/R00 Awardee - October 2019

Alicia Che is a Postdoctoral Associate in Neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medical College. Through joint mentorship from Natalia De Marco García and Robert Froemke, her research examines the neurobiological mechansims underlying the link between tactile sensory processing and social behaviors. Using longitudinal two-photon imaging, genetic tools and behavioral assays, her work aims to determine how oxytocin, a neuropeptide critical in a wide range of social behaviors, modulates neuronal  circuits to facilitate the development of social touch. She received her Ph.D. in physiology and neurobiology from the University of Connecticut, and earned her B.S. in biology, physical chemistry, and physics from Pacific Lutheran University. She also completed postdoctoral work at New York University.
