While the long-term consequences of hypertension on the brain’s vasculature are well-studied, Dr. Iadecola has worked to identify cerebrovascular factors underlying the effects of hypertension on vascular remodeling. He is currently exploring the hypothesis that perivascular macrophages mediate neurovascular dysfunction and cognitive declines induced by hypertension.
